Wow, I Didn’t Know One Could Swatch So Much Paint
There is something so exciting about looking at an empty building and knowing you get to transform it. Of course we love our current space; it was where it all started, but if you have ever come into Glass Tangerine after a store flip, you know how much we love change. It’s stressful, no doubt, but it’s also necessary. It’s growth.
We knew that a buildout would require lots of work. We were ready to be flexible, and for the long hours powered by pizza eaten on the floor as a crew, but man, I had no idea how many paint swatches it would take to design a building. Emma, Aspen, and Bobbie all journeyed to Lowes with a Pinterest board and a dream: find the color that will transform the space into our space.
Naturally, they came back with a literal group of 15 different paint colors and swatched them all on the wall because Glass Tangerine does nothing halfway.
I would ask for your input on which one, but we’ve already picked.
The color in the dead center, A.K.A. “Stillwater,” now covers the shiplap with a lime wash texture Bobbie and Emma slaved over. And to their credit, it is perfect.
Standing in the middle of the newly painted room is such a fun feeling. You can see the gears working in everyone’s heads as we look around for the next project. There is such joy in watching Emma take videos for the Instagram and comb through hundreds of different wallpapers for behind the register. We really do care more than we can explain. Seeing it now, with the new light fixtures in and the floor taped to mark our counter and shelves, it makes it real. We were definitely worried at the beginning. Who wouldn’t be? But Glass Tangerine was never just a building; it was the people behind it.
Please keep following along with the buildout on Instagram; the engagement helps us out! First we have to get through Valentine’s weekend. (Help) I’ll see you next week, but until then, Happy Valentine’s Day!
News, Updates, And More…
It’s here! Online preorders are closed, but we are still accepting Valentine’s Day orders in the shop. There will be no flower bar starting tomorrow and going through Saturday, so either place a preorder with us, or come in and get a grab-n-go!
We will be having our dear friends, True Love Tattoo, in the building Friday from 5 - 8pm doing $100 cash tattoos and piercings. The designs are adorable and the earrings are so cute. What better way to celebrate love?
Seriously, follow closely on our Instagram for updates and progress posts about the new space. Be part of the process!
